CASA
Before arranging your medical, you will need to apply to the online CASA Medical Records System and pay CASA the fee.
The list of medical requirements can be found here.
Class 1 and Class 3
For a Class 1 or Class 3 medical, you will need the following tests:
- Blood tests to check glucose and lipids. This is arranged once you make an appointment or can be performed by your GP.
- An ECG (electrocardiogram) to check your heart. This is done at the time of your medical unless you have a recent test (within 3 months).
- An assessment by a Designated Aviation Opthalmologist (DAO) or a CASA Accredited Optometrist to check your eyesight.
Note: This needs to be done by a CASA Accredited Optometrist. Search here for available DAOs in your area.
- An audiology check to make sure your hearing meets the requisite standard.
- If you have any health conditions or are taking any regular medications then CASA will need more information before a medical certificate can be issued.
You may need these tests repeated periodically depending on your age. Please review the requirements here.
Class 2
If you have no underlying health issues then this can be issued the same time as your exam.
